a few submission guidelines
(more like suggestions)
(which are really just begging to be broken by somebody who can do it well)

We argued amongst ourselves for a while wondering whether we actually wanted a submissions page. We suspect that like any good writer you have looked at a submission page and simply clicked on, given that most submission pages seem like they're asking you to assemble a nuclear reactor. But we figured in the end, it makes sense to hang an OPEN sign in the window and welcome any timid folk in from out of the cold.

So a few thoughts...

Poetry
-go ahead and send the standard 3-5 poems, bio (make it interesting, Micah likes to read these first...we do not gurantee total biographical accuracy if your work is accepted), etc., attached in a .doc or .rtf preferably (if we can't open it, we probably won't read it) to CartographerElectric@gmail.com. a wide range of work is probably better than a narrow slice.
-we are very happy to be surprised, and would like to see anything that is daring, interesting....there probably isn't much you can do that will shock us, but hell, go ahead and try.

(Non/)Fiction-oriented Prose
-as Joel is the main fiction man, he suggests keeping the word count limited to 1000 words. send a few pieces (same specs as poetry) to CartographerElectric@gmail.com
-if you're really interested in giving us something longer to look at, send a shorter excerpt about that size and let us know there is more where that came from. we might bite. if you have something really really really long (novella or longer) that might fit into the Press, please tell us that as well.

Other Prose
-we do enjoy stimulating the academic portion of our bodies from time to time (if you catch our drift)...if you're interested in an example of this, see issue 1. if you feel like you have something interesting to say, go ahead and send it in. we do not have particular guidelines relating to this, as we don't necessarily know what we want, but are open to the various possibilities. even if we do not end up taking it, Micah knows a few other places he might pass it along to (assuming it's good, of course).

And of course...that red-headed stepchild of Journals....Art
-email a .jpg of your work to CartographerElectric@gmail.com
-that was simple, wasn't it?
